Part 2: What makes the Agriculture Entrepreneurship degree unique?

当我与学生和家长谈论农业工程项目时，我喜欢问这样的问题：“农业对你意味着什么？” 我经常听到的是“farming”，“ranching”，“food production”或者就是简单的“production”。 And though agriculture as a whole revolves around the production of food, fiber, and fuel products (and byproducts!); agriculture involves everything from the resource inputs, to the labor and management, to the ‘raw’ products from farming and ranching, to the processing, packing and distribution of products, to the marketing, wholesale and retail sales of finished products to the consumer…and all the financial and risk support required to keep it ‘all moving forward’!!

Students majoring in the AE degree are exposed to all facets of Agriculture! The complexity of the U.S. Agricultural system can create obstacles and supply chain issues, but it also creates opportunities for change, growth, and flexibility to be resilient! In my next blog post I will focus on how the AE program exposes the student to each segment of the agriculture value chain.
